Job Description:

Internal team Note -The big task that we need this person to support is reviewing 1000+ reports currently built in DOE's mainframe system and identifying reports that can be consolidated in the future state. We also need to identify data sets that we can make available to end users to self-serve with report creation. We aren't expecting this person to know mainframes, but we do need them to dig through a ton of data and organize it in a thoughtful fashion. SQL and a general curiosity about big complex data sets are the key skills.

Role and Responsibilities:
--- nalyze current state reporting to help form reporting strategy for the project
--- Work closely with project manager to understand and maintain focus on analytics needs, in support of project goals, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers
--- Proactively analyze data to answer key questions for stakeholders or yourself, with an eye on addressing priority business needs, and investigate and communicate which areas need special attention from the data team
--- Carry out data interpretation and analysis, with reporting components from multiple data sources, as needed to support the project's data needs
--- Define and implement data acquisition and integration logic, selecting an appropriate combination of methods and tools within the defined technology stack to ensure optimal scalability and performance of the solution
--- nalyze data sets by acquiring data from primary and secondary sources, and build scripts that will make our data evaluation process more flexible or scalable across datasets
Skill Sets:
Required

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
• 12 or more years of experience mining data as a data analyst
• Proven analytics skills, including mining, evaluation, and visualization
• Technical writing experience in relevant areas, including queries, reports, and presentations
• Strong SQL or Excel skills, with aptitude for learning other analytics tools
• Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment Nice to Have
  --- New York city area (NYC, New Jersey, Conn)
  --- Government experience (Federal, state, city)
  --- Education experience - building applications for higher ed or department of education
